Configuring Urchin 6 Profiles
Step 1 - Profile Information
To create a new profile, first navigate to the profile list by clicking Configuration in the top-right part of the screen. Next, on the left menu, choose Urchin Profiles >> Profiles. On this screen, click the add button.

After clicking the Add button, Urchin will prompt you with a profile setup wizard. The first screen is shown to the right. Complete the form:
- If datacenter mode is enabled, choose which account to add this profile under. Selecting "(NONE)" will create the profile under the default account.
- Enter the name by which you want to identify this new profile. Note: this name must be unique.
- Choose whether or not ecommerce will be tracked for this profile.
- Choose the tracking method: IP+User Agent or UTM (see Tracking Basics for more information).
- For basic scenarios, leave the UTM domain field blank. There are better ways to implement this using an include filter.
Step 2 - General Settings
Upon continuing, you will be presented with a screen to edit the new profile's general settings.

- The Website URL and Site Domains fields may be left blank (there are better ways to implement these features by using filters).
- You may set your site's default (or home) page in the Default Page field. Depending on the site setup, the default page may come across as just a slash (/) in the reports. Other times, the actual page may be shown. By specifying the default page, this tells Urchin to track pageviews for this file and "/" as the same page.
- We recommend leaving Parallel Log Processing off, as no major difference is seen in the processing stage.
Congratulations, a new profile has been created! You will then be prompted to add a log source to this profile. Click here to learn how to set these up.
